i haven't seen any jws in years.
i visited a family and the guys all had beards.
like wtf a while back i remembered you got disfellowshipped and guess you would get destroyed .
Permission was given. And the men went overboard acting on it. Women pant suits too, except on stage. Ties and jackets off with the same exception.
The announcement was to keep your yap shut. Now I hear the "neatly trimmed modest" mantra which was not decreed.
Local standards are still being dictated
i read something recently on reddit (not sure what thread) where a person related how some jw told them that ‘they hold a grudge’.. this reminded me of something an old jw acquaintance said to me some years back when i related my bad experience in the religion.. so, apparently, jehovah’s witnesses feel they should be forgiven for anything.
people should forget all about it and act like nothing happened and be charitable towards them, etc… when i read in james and ephesians i got the sense ‘holding a grudge’ was referring to the things average people do to offend each other.. i don’t see it applying to a religion that claimed to speak for god and who engendered hateful and unchristian attitudes towards people.. i know because i experienced this.. in addition, some people’s lives were damaged by listening to faulty teachings and interference in things that were clearly none of anybody’s business.. one case in point: them knocking worldly careers and now there are thousands of destitute jws in senior years with nothing.. then in 2023 the religion does away with a century old teaching about counting hours in the ministry.
meanwhile, i got judged over this.

We got a reproved announcement tonight. Slipped in under the wire. Not a clue as why. All I know is she is a bit picky and husband is a control freak of sorts

Revising t h e revisions? The lack of schooling shows; nobody seems to notice the order of the months or is afraid of being lightninged. Note I have few acquaintances actually in.
Excommunicated is still the proper term. Not that religions shouldn't be able to control membership but the JWs have no uniformity of application.
it's fairly evident to little old outsider me that the organisation has a class system, perhaps even a caste system.. from what i've read, there seems to not only be an official ranking system (m.s., elder, c.o.
) but an unofficial one.
has anyone ever sat down to figure out what the unofficial ranks are and how they affect the pecking order?
